Wildlife Matters looks at Pacific Salmon

In the next episode of Wildlife Matters we look at Pacific Salmon.  Salmon once spawned by the millions in the coastal rivers and creeks of California, from the Oregon border to Big Sur.  Now they number a small fraction of their former abundance.  Please tune in on Thursday, June 25 at 5 p.m. on KMUD to learn more about these amazing fish. We’ll hear from fish biologist Patrick Higgins and Executive Director of Friends of the Eel River, Scott Greacen.  We’ll learn about the three main species of salmon that still live in the Eel River, learn about the habitat changes that started their downward trend, and get an update on the status of Coho in the Eel River.
